GULF OIL SPILL - Congressman Ron Klein
Mayor Schultz particiated in a telephone conference call with Congressman Klein on May 19th regarding the Gulf Oil Spill. A summary of the call follows for your information and sharing.
Dear South Florida Elected Leaders,
Thank you to everyone who participated on yesterday afternoon’s conference call on the BP oil spill. Our constituents expect us to work together every day to manage this economic and environmental disaster, and that is exactly what we will do.
It was a pleasure to talk with more than 40 of you yesterday, but if you could not make our conference call, please be assured that it was just the first step in an ongoing dialogue. I am committed to sharing real-time information to keep you informed, and to hearing your ideas on how our cities, towns and communities can plan ahead to reduce the damage as the spilled oil approaches the East coast.
I hope you will forward this email to your constituents and other community leaders. We will continue monitoring all federal and state responses to this spill, and will share real-time information with you as it becomes available. Monitoring this spill and its possible effects on our shores is essential for our local businesses and costal home and condo owners.
